ABOUT ANNUAL TEACHER WORKSHOP

The 17th Annual Teacher Workshop, presented by The PULSE and Broadway Dance Center, is our annual opportunity to honor the people we value most; you the dance educators. We bring together master faculty from The PULSE, BDC, and special quests in the industry to commune with dance teachers from all over the globe -- it's “Teachers teaching Teachers!" This workshop is designed specifically for Studio Owners, Teachers, Choreographers, and Teaching Assistants.

Rhee Gold

Rhee Gold is a dance field pioneer who has single-handedly led a movement that continues to change and improve the face of dance education. Teachers and school owners from the United States, Australia, Canada, Grand Cayman, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, United Kingdom and more come to his retreats, seminars, keynote speeches, and conferences to gain fresh perspectives and learn positive solutions that inspire new levels of empowerment, self-confidence and personal accomplishment.

Launching his first school at the age of fifteen, at a low-income housing project, he learned that dance does change lives and so began a his mission to ensure the best dance education for every child; regardless of their financial standing or technical abilities. Gold founded and taught at the Dance Theatre of Boston and Gold Studio III, both Boston based professional schools. He has owned and directed the Gold School in Brockton, MA, which is now under the direction of his twin brother, Rennie, preparing for its fifty-second season.

The Second International Congress of Dance, Dance Masters of America, Dance Educators of America, National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists are a few of the organizations at which Gold has served as a master teacher.

The Founder and CEO of several businesses Rhee has a proven record for success. In 2012 he opened the doors to the DanceLife Retreat Center, where hundreds of dance teachers and school owners attend business seminars, curriculum workshops and motivational weekends. His DanceLife Teacher Conference is one of the largest gatherings of dance educators in the world. As the owner and publisher of Dance Studio Life (DSL) magazine, he is the leader of the largest publication for dance education in the United States. Gold owns the DanceTeacherStore.com, which offers business and classroom tools, music, curriculum, books and subscriptions for DSL magazine. The International Dance Educators Association (IDEA) will launch in the summer of 2016 as the world’s first business organization open to all dance school owners.

Gold gives back to the dance community through his volunteer work with many dance organizations. He was the President of Dance Masters of New EnglandDance Masters of America and the Founding Co-Chair of UNITY. Currently he serves the Andréa Rizzo Foundation as a board member, Dance Educators of America as an advisory board member and as President of the United Dance Merchants of America.

Rhee’s writing has propelled his philosophies world-wide. He is the author of The Complete Guide to Teaching Dance: An Insider’s Secrets to Personal Reward and Financial Success, now in its second printing, He has been an education columnist for Dance MagazineDancer magazine and is the author of hundreds of articles and columns for publications around the world.

In 2014 Gold received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Industry Dance Awards and he received the same award from Dance Educators of America in 2015.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

WHAT AGES ARE ALLOWED?
The Teacher Workshop is designed for Studio Owners, instructors, and assistants ages 16 and older.

WHAT KIND OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT? 
Teacher Workshop accepts MasterCard, Visa, check, or money order. If you need assistance with your registration, please call 1.877.PULSE.01. Note: Registration is not complete until we have received your payment in full.

CAN I COME TO TEACHER WORKSHOP FOR ONE DAY?
You are not required to attend all days; however at this time we do not offer discounted one-day rates.

WHEN IS CHECK-IN AT THE WORKSHOP? 
Check-in will be Thursday July 27th from 8:30-9:30am

WHAT IS YOUR AT THE DOOR POLICY?

Because of the popularity of this event, pre-registration is strongly suggested. If you plan on trying to come last minute as a walk-in, please call our offices to inquire about availability: 1-877-PULSE-01.

WHEN DO I GET MY SCHEDULE? 
Teacher Workshop will email you a tentative schedule two weeks prior to the weekend. Hard copies will be available at registration.

WHAT TIME DOES THE TEACHER WORKSHOP END ON SATURDAY? 
Classes will end tentatively around 4:00pm on Saturday, July 29th. 

WHERE CAN I FIND THE MUSIC THAT THE FACULTY USED DURING THE EVENT?
All music that is available to the public will be posted a week after the workshop. Some faculty members have access to music or mixes that aren’t even released yet! We will email you a list of music in your "thank you" letter.

CAN I VIDEOTAPE OR USE MY CAMERA AT THE TEACHER WORKSHOP? 
Teachers may take personal, non-flash photography during Teacher Workshop classes. No video during classes under any circumstances. 

ARE THERE NOTES AVAILABLE FROM THE CLASSES?
You will be greeted with a personal folder full of class notes from all of your Faculty. During classes feel free to take your own notes, and refer to the notes provided in your personal event folder.
